About Jean

A highly sought-after trainer and coach, Jean is known by her colleagues and clients as the “Workplace Whisperer & Healer” due to her unique ability to diagnose and solve the most complex workplace problems.

Her practice is devoted to training, executive coaching, and conducting independent investigations into allegations of sexual and discriminatory harassment, disability and race discrimination, workplace violence, bullying, and retaliation. She regularly conducts workplace climate assessments to help employers increase transparency, workplace morale & communications.

Extensive Background as a Trainer, Advocate, and Policy Maker

Jean Haertl served as one of the country’s first domestic and workplace violence civilian advocates within a police department. Serving in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, Jean is a leader and innovator in the prevention of domestic violence, bullying, workplace violence, and discriminatory harassment. As the founder of the Commonwealth’s first public sector program targeting violence in the workplace, Jean co-drafted Governor Paul Cellucci’s and Deval Patrick’s Executive Orders and state policies focusing on the elimination of domestic and workplace violence. Along with state leaders, she co-wrote M. G. L. Chapter 260- the state’s first law granting leave to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

With more than 32 years of developing and delivering training to public, private, and municipal employers, Jean has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional, dynamic training to the most challenging audiences. She also served as an OSHA expert consultant for New England in the area of workplace violence prevention within the healthcare industry.

Jean is an honors graduate of Wellesley College and was awarded a full fellowship at Boston College’s doctoral program in social psychology. She is a certified graduate and vendor of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination investigations, discriminatory harassment prevention, and reasonable accommodations training series. She is certified to deliver the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and is a certified batterers intervention counselor through EMERGE in Cambridge, MA. She is a graduate of the UMASS Center for Mindfulness and Stress Reduction Program and is an M.G.L certified Mediator through MetroWest Mediation Services

Jean served as Director of the Governor’s Commission on Domestic Violence during my tenure as Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Paul Cellucci. Jean’s expertise, guidance and vision were instrumental in the issuance of the Commonwealth’s first Executive Order on Domestic Violence in the Workplace. Jean is the best at what she does and would be an asset to any organization.
